Mountain Wine

Mountains can have a major impact on how wine develops and ultimately tastes. Higher elevations often mean cooler temperatures, stronger sunlight, and larger shifts between warm days and cool nights (diurnal swing), which can help grapes retain acidity while still developing flavor. Mountain slopes also affect drainage, wind exposure, soil depth, and how much sunlight a vineyard receives. Together, those factors can produce wines with greater freshness, structure, concentration, and a more distinctive sense of place.
