Collio of NE Italy
Collio is a hilly wine region in northeastern Italy, near the Slovenian border, best known for expressive white wines. The same vineyard landscape continues across the border into Slovenia, where it is called Brda, making the area feel like one natural wine region divided by politics. Both sides share similar soils, climate, and grapes, including Ribolla Gialla, known as Rebula in Slovenia. The result is a distinctive style of wine that often combines freshness, texture, minerality, and aromatic complexity.
